Breast Cancer Treatment Options

Breast Cancer Treatment Options

After the initial shock of learning I had cancer, came the overwhelming task of choosing doctors and breast cancer treatment options. I got lots of advice about alternative treatments from friends, as well as medical advice from doctors. The more research I did, the more overwhelmed I felt. There are hundreds of cancer “cures” out there in addition to the surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy offered by the medical profession.

After analyzing the breast cancer treatment options, I decided I wanted to get this whole thing behind us as quickly as possible and went for a mastectomy with immediate reconstruction. I was delighted when my oncologist said I did not need radiation or chemotherapy. And after six weeks of recuperation (one of which was spent in Palm Springs), and a new, almost normal looking, breast with a saline implant, I tried to go on as if nothing had happened. However, my state of denial was shattered each time I had to go in for an exam. The fear of a possible recurrence made it all too real. And there was that tiny Tamoxifen pill as a daily reminder that there might be some loose cancer cells still floating around in my body somewhere.

I am the Lord, your God,
Who takes hold of your
Right hand and says to you,
‘Do not fear; I will help you.’

(Isaiah 41:13)

Teach us to number our days,
That we may gain a heart of wisdom.

(Psalm 90:12)

When it comes to breast cancer treatment options, the best option is God…

Praise Me through trial.
See My bigger picture.
Find quiet times with Me.
Find peace by trusting Me.
Be open to My Holy Spirit to reach others for Me.

Serenity Prayer…
GOD, grant me the serenity
to accept the things
I cannot change,
Courage to change the
things I can, and the
wisdom to know the difference.

Living ONE DAY AT A TIME;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardship as the
pathway to peace.
Taking, as He did, this
sinful world as it is,
not as I would have it.
Trusting that He will make
all things right if I
surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy
in this life, and supremely
happy with Him forever in
the next. Amen

What do you think?
We have all sinned and deserve God’s judgment. God, the Father, sent His only Son to satisfy that judgment for those who believe in Him. Jesus, the creator and eternal Son of God, who lived a sinless life, loves us so much that He died for our sins, taking the punishment that we deserve, was buried, and rose from the dead according to the Bible. If you truly believe and trust this in your heart, receiving Jesus alone as your Savior, declaring, "Jesus is Lord," you will be saved from judgment and spend eternity with God in heaven.

What is your response?

Yes, I want to follow Jesus

I am a follower of Jesus

I still have questions

How can I know God?

If you died, why should God let you into heaven?
